Compassionate candidates resent over recruitment norms
ITANAGAR, Mar 2: Recent interviews held by Arunachal Pradesh Police for widows of death policemen have run into controversy many questioning the recruitment process. In this regard some of the widows have written to Chief Minister, Home Commissioner and Director General of Police seeking their intervention in this regard. Most of these widows are seeking recruitment under group D category.
In a representation to Chief Minister, the widows have sought immediate cancellation of ongoing interview and urged government to appoint all the candidates on compassionate ground. They claim that in the past government offered job to widows, sons, and daughters without conducting any interview on compassionate ground. But during ongoing recruitment drive authorities imposed many new rules.
One of widow while talking to this daily said, “I have 4 children and most of time am busy in taking care of them having lost my husband. How can authorities expect me to do high jump, long jump and running race as per their prescribed rule?”
Many widows from across the state have come to Itanagar hoping to get job after being informed by concern authorities about recruitment drive for widows. “We came here with great hope to get job. But this whole recruitment process has killed my dream. I am 35 year old woman and seeking job in place of my death husband. Am not begging and only seeking my right,” told another widow. She further added, “When I left home, I promised my children of better life once I return. Now I don’t feel like to go home also. What will I tell my children when I go back home.”
Meanwhile some of the widows have filed writ petition before Guwahati High Court, Itanagar, challenging conduct of interview on 23rd of February for group D post.
Daporijo gets 3 high mast light towers
DAPORIJO, Mar 2: The nights at Daporijo, the headquarter of Upper Subansiri, has become brighter with the inauguration of 3 High Mast lights here yesterday evening by the local MLA Tapen Siga in the presence of ADC G. Ete, SP A. Bitin and others.

Meanwhile, the District Hospital, Daporijo has taken a step forward in its efforts to improve the services provided to the public of the area with the starting of Pay Clinic at the District Hospital here. All specialists such Gynecologist, Medicine, Orthopedic, Chest and ENT experts will be available form 4.00 pm to 7.00 pm in the evening. A 24 hours Laboratory Service has also started which will provide cheap and quick service round the clock as compared to services provided by private Labs here.
The DMO Dr. D. Bagra informed that patients coming to the Pay Clinic would be charged Rs 150, out of which Rs 100 would be paid to the doctor, Rs 20 to the government, Rs 20 to the Hospital Management Committee and Rs 10 to the over duty staff. All fund collected by the Hospital Management Committee through the Pay Clinic and Laboratory Service will be put to good use to improve the hospital and maintain the equipment of the hospital he added. Primary school building demolished
ITANAGAR, Mar 2: The Vth Lower Balijan Youth Association has condemned the demolition of the under construction primary school building at Chakma block –I under Balijan circle on Feb 25.
The Association members in its meeting held today said that such destruction activities has curtailed the entire development process in the area. It urged the authorities to investigate the matter and book the miscreants immediately.
SAF seeks Centre’s intervention for review of MoAs on hydro projects
ITANAGAR, Mar 2: Save Arunachal Forum (SAF) in a memorandum to Prime Minister demanded for thorough review of all MOAs signed with hydro power developers as well as to bring about major changes in hydro power and resettlement and rehabilitation policies of the Centre as well as the state government. This was informed by Forum chairman Kahfa Bengia in a faxed statement today.
A copy of memorandum was also submitted to Power Minister, tribal affairs minister and Forest and Environment minister and other minister concerned, the statement said.
The Forum chairman further said it has pointed out numerous shortfalls in MOAs signed such as absence of prior and informed consent of the land owners, PRI leaders, traditional village authorities, full insurance cover to life and property of the down stream population etc. In a separate memorandum addressed to UPA chairperson, the Forum pleaded for immediate removal of the present Chief Minister ‘under whose leadership the policy of protective development propounded by Pandit Jawarharlal Nehru has been grossly massacred’, the Forum claimed. The SAF chairman claimed that it held press conference today at the Press Club of India, highlighting various forms of corruptions allegedly rocking the present Congress government in the state. Issues mainly the alleged secrete and indiscriminate signing of more than 137 MoAs with total power installation capacity of over 65000 mega watt by the state government with various private power developers were highlighted, the Forum claimed.
Alleging that the scam committed in the shady dealings is even more than 2G spectrum allocation, the Forum demanded for enquiry by High power parliamentary committee or a committee headed by Supreme Court judge to unearth the truth.

AAPWU team requested the chief secretary to convene a meeting of HoDs of all working departments along with authority concerned to find out the root cause of such delay in disbursement of workers’ salary and also requested him to issue strict instructions to all concern to release the salaries of all the casual workers within the first week of every month.

Infratech to provide internet service
ITANAGAR: Cam Infratech Pvt Ltd (Alieson) has decided to construct internet tower in entire Arunachal Pradesh.
The Company will first set up internet tower in state Capital and will cover East Siang and West Siang and other districts later. The director of the Company in Arunachal Pradesh Kardu Taipodia in a release said that it will construct free internet tower in college, secondary and higher secondary schools where computer education is going on.

Execution of schemes not at all systematic
Dear Editor,
This is in response to the letter “Transparency being maintained’ (on Feb 28). It is encouraging to hear that concerned officials of the nodal agency of JNNURM mission are very much along the expected lines but as to the questions raised by Techi Necha regarding the scheme executions and its transparency, we the general public have yet to see more light on it and we thank Necha for bringing to our notice this whole affair.
As we are also very much aware of the fact that the much needed development that our capital needs is ultimately turning into a reality and we sincerely thank the executing agency for the same. But being stakeholders at the same time, I would also like to seek some more clarification from D Lewi, deputy director, UD and housing, about the mission.
Firstly, the execution of the schemes have been haphazard and not at all systematic. If one has to go through the CDP of Itanagar it is very evident that it contains an accurate depiction of the reality. Can Mr. Lewi explain the logic behind making the low floor JNNURM buses operational on the road much before the widening of the roads or any proper bus terminal as per the CDP has envisaged for these buses? And it has not been even a year since the JNNURM buses are plying, we can see now the damages that these buses have incurred during their short span of existence, not to mention the chaos and the traffic congestion that they have contributed to. Even before the roads are completed some of the parking lots (near DC office Naharlagun) have been completed and are already in deteriorating conditions.
Secondly, the whole process of road widening and construction of drain has been so indiscriminate that the water supply and the telecommunication dept. have been totally disregarded. The excavators have, in the digging process, snapped the telephone cables and the water supply pipes and hence we are still without our telephone connection since a month and are still buying water at exorbitant rates from the private vendors. Now is this an appreciable work being done by the concerned authorities?
Thirdly, about the monitoring part, there is a provision under the JNNURM guidelines for technical advisory groups which are to assist the SLNA, SLSC, ULBs etc while realizing the mission. And as far as facts are concerned it is to my knowledge that the advisory support group which had long been recruited for the purpose is embroiled in a long drawn legal battle regarding their appointments and their wage realization. It will be very helpful, if Lewi enlightens us all on this regard.

AAPSU’s response to MLA Tani Loffa

This refers to the letter “Stick to your job” by West Seppa MLA Tani Loffa published in your esteem daily on Wednesday. In this regard I being president of All Arunachal Pradesh Students Union (AAPSU) would like to make certain points clear to the respected MLA Tani Loffa. AAPSU while acknowledging and welcoming the views put forwarded by the MLA feels pertinent to point out that the visit made by the members of apex students’ body of state to Seba village during the last part of February was an apolitical one and nothing to do with politics of the area.
It seems respected MLA did not went through the news item “AAPSU team visit Seba
village” published in various dailies of state on Feb 26 properly. In the entire
news clip, I in the capacity of AAPSU president while giving byte to media did not
mention about issues concerning your assembly constituency for once also. I have
only spoken about the need of promoting Pappu valley as tourist destination and also
urged authorities to repair Sagalee-
Secondly in regards to your advice to AAPSU to confine ourselves to student welfare activities, we are thankful to you for this suggestion. AAPSU always wanted to confine itself in fighting for the cause of student communities but sadly in our state opposition political parties of which you are also member do not play their part. And people of this state expect AAPSU to play role of opposition and if we keep quiet on issues, they question our integrity. For your kind information we also do raise issues for benefit of student communities. For example like demanding increase of student stipend, raising voice against harassment of Arunachalee students outside state, poor condition of schools and several other issues confronting the student communities. We always stand for integrity of state and in the process many times put our own life in risk. Hope you also take note of our positive activities.
Thirdly I want to inform honourable MLA that being pressure group, AAPSU can visit
any place of Arunachal without anybody’s permission. Also being former ANSU General
Secretary you might know the role of student groups much better than us. During
our visit to Seba village, AAPSU only raised issue for sake of your constituency
but sadly you seem to have mis-
If you really want us to talk about education issues, then let me tell that in Seba government middle school there were many loopholes. Only four SSA teachers are running the school. There are no toilet and bathroom facilities and no hostel facility too. If this is the condition of a middle school, then how can we expect children learn better education in order to become officers in future? I take this opportunity to appeal all the former student leaders who have now become MLAs that they should not forget their root and work for upliftment of education sector. Once they were also like us and fought against system for benefit of poor student and ordinary citizen of Arunachal. We have special hope on these former student leaders and believe that they will understand the pain of poor citizens in general and student communities of state in particular. During assembly session they should raise issues concerning to student communities. Also the salaries and perks offered to MLAs have been increased but till now stipend amount of student have not been increased. AAPSU want few answers from all MLAs in this regard.

Let’s appreciate for their noble work
Dear Editor,
It is observed that many of the concerns of those alleged engineers have commented on the report published by this daily in its earlier edition which, I feel, was unnecessary. Since our system or Govt. is no mood to tackle such illegal or in other word corruption practices in the state, the works done by this daily in exposing or being medium through which every single citizen become aware of even the tiny matters of each day is truly deserve appreciation. I suggest those who are not up to the interest of state affairs and its progress with good vision to not even comment on the others who are trying to raise their voice for the good cause of the state.
If those engineers are innocent then why don’t they come up with clarifications on the matter instead of engaging people to surpass the laudable work done by this daily? I appeal the people not to make this cheap issue a sensational and try to curtail the noble work of our most trusted local daily. It is necessary to brought to the public notice to all wrong doers and corrupted persons especially at the time when there is no stringent law available to punish them.

I am aware that media had its own limitations and boundaries especially in state like Arunachal Pradesh where it is mostly influenced by the political parties coupled with commercial compulsions, secret or obvious affiliations which make them compromise on vital aspects of reporting and sharing. As the media and journalism in India are doing the role of Fourth Estate, it is high time media should broaden its share of responsibility and it’s in the interest of all to help media in Arunachal evolve into that stature devoid of political influences and competent enough to reach out up to the remotest corners and bring about social issues in public without any ingredients of fear and compulsion.
Lastly, I have restricted myself to sharing views and perspectives only rather than suggesting any magical remedial panacea, I left it on our elite think tanks to suggest and implement it in action.
